Jennifer Seward - Designer & Educator
I try to share this same visual problem solving that I learned as a programmer, incorporate the understanding of learners’ behaviors I learned as an early grades' educator, and combine this with the education I received as a professional designer into my teaching.
Graphic Design is always around us and learning how to communicate in a visual manner has inspired me to learn more about the subject. I started university as a computer science major. I enjoyed the problem-solving nature of computer science; however I wasn’t completely fulfilled. I discovered graphic design through my Art Appreciation instructor and explored the more creative aspects of problem solving. I truly found a place and a tribe that fit!
I worked for several years as a professional graphic designer working in corporate branding, newspapers, and eventually found myself as a freelance web designer.
I began my teaching career as a K-12 art teacher. I really enjoyed my time teaching early grades. I feel like it gave me a special understanding of the way we learn and process information.
I started teaching graphic design around 2010 for a vocational high school program. In 2019, I was hired to run the Digital and Media Arts program for National Park College.

This website is a combination of work. I have examples of projects I have completed for graduate school. I have examples of branding projects I have completed as a professional freelancer. I also have examples of my students' outcomes.
Please enjoy and feel free to message me if you have any questions.
